Hi Ron,
Thanks for checking out the blog and congrats on your second tri! I also just finished my first Olympic tri and agree that the biggest challenge for me in the swim remains trying to go in a straight line. Do you practice sighting in your pool swims? Also, are you able to practice open water swims? I did find that helpful since it is so different than swimming in a pool. It's amazing how easy a swim can be in a pool but the same distance in open water becomes much more challenging. One idea might be to try doing your pool swims with your eyes closed to mimic not being able to see in open water and just sight for the end of the pool every other stroke or so. If you're like more, you're probably now addicted to triathlons so there will be plenty of chances to practice! :)

Ive just finished my second olymipc distance tri, both had open water swims. Im still very much a beginner but my time was awful for both swims. The main reason being i cannot go in a straightline and have to do more than 50% breaststroke. Im training easily at 2k-2.5k in pool training so 1.5k shouldnt be a challenge.

Any help from anyone would be welcomed with open arms. Despite this tatton Park Triathlon in NW England was fabulous this year and i improved my time by 29 minutes from my first outing.
